I knew Christy's predecessor, Kevin Knox, very well. We served on a Technical Standards committee and I heard how much he admired Christy’s cupping skills. Kevin didn't hand out compliments very easily. I heard after last year's summer coffee roaster's retreat that Christy had won an informal competition where they each try to guess which coffee came from where. According to legend, Christy guessed 100% right. She's got perfect taste buds like a musician with perfect pitch. What I couldn't have known is that Christy is also an amazingly open person. I just rang her up, asking her to appear as our cupping authority, and she said yes without hesitation. That Kenya coffee we’re cupping on the video is one of the best coffees I've ever tasted. It's truly impressive that a grocery chain has become one of the best sources for coffee in America and due, primarily, to Christy's taste buds. Take a look at the cupping sample to see what I mean.
